LOUISVILLE, Kentucky: Immigration reform is expected to be one of the top issues discussed when the Kentucky Legislature begins its new session on January 4. State Senate President David Williams (R) is pushing a proposal that is modeled on the controversial Arizona law. This proposal would allow illegal immigrants to be charged with trespassing if they set foot on public or private property. [1] It also would require local law enforcement to check immigration status while enforcing other laws. [2]
Williams’ proposal is part of a larger agenda he is attempting to pass during the first week of the new session, which is normally used for organizing committees. Williams is running for the Republican nomination for Governor in 2011, and most believe this is the reason for his ambitious agenda. Democratic Speaker of the House Gregory Stumbo said the House would not speed up its business, stating, “None of us are running for governor over here, so we don’t feel the need to have a formal agenda at this time when it’s kind of a slow news time.” [3]
However, Stumbo has endorsed legislation that would require employers to check citizenship status before hiring, saying, “If you really want to solve the immigration issue, then you make the burden on the employers, because if the jobs aren’t here, neither would the illegal immigrants be here.” [1]
We can never be defined as a “nation of laws” as long as one illegal alien is allowed to stay here. Americans are without jobs, because this and past administrations have encouraged the invasion across our southern border for votes and cheap labor. How sad to see our government sell us out for those who laugh at our laws.

there not enough resources to go around…thats not even getting

if there was a million dollar fine for hiring an illegal, big companies would stop busing them into this country. our leaders are too chicken to try to fix this issue, and find it easier to garner votes playing whack-an-immigrant from day one. If you hate migrant workers that much, quit whining about the economy and get a job picking fruit, because no one else will.
OK…..Seriously are we trying to push them out of here,after they have made families.And that is bull for people to say they are “taking our jobs”because if Americans were working there in the first place there would have been none!! And really they help our Country in a lot ways,but if they wanted to do something about illegal’s why not have started like 15yrs ago???? IF YOU BREAK IT, YOU OWN IT. The USA would benefit from acknowledging that by looking the other way and allowing employers to boost their profits by using illegal immigrant labor virtually without punity, the USA created the current immigration mess. For instance, when ICE cracked down on the clothing manufacturer American Apparel in CA the other year, some of the illegal immigrants who were fired had been on the same jobS for more than a decade and held managerial positions.
If you break it, you own it and the USA must accept its responsibility for having allowed the creation of illegal/undocumented de facto residents of the USA.
The solution is to swiftly legalize the otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants in 2011 and simultaneously make the use of E-verify mandatory until a biometric social security card/id can be implemented.
Heck man leave immigrants alone. They have not come to take noone’s job, If your job is given to an immigrant its because they are worth the job. Everyone is human and everyone desires the best life. It is most wrongful to seperate families. I’d say Americans are some selfish ___. Unless the immigrant is seriously bringing crime into the country then he should be consider harm otherwise all what the immigrant is trying to do is to improve their life and the life of his family. They are the ones doing the labor jobs that requiere their ___ to be out in the hot sun in the summers constructing the stupid homes for the Americans and they do not complain of the work load instead they take all the BS from the Americans.
Americans are without jobs because that is how they choose. The government spoils people by all of the welfare assistance people are given. Don’t get me wrong. I get food stamps, medicaid and SSI. I was born without an immune system along with other health problems and disorders. I understand those who are really disabled/elderly getting government help they need and not just those who are lazy that expect everyone else to keep you up so you don’t have to work. My husband is an immgrant he works a public job and busts his back everyday so that he can provide for us and our son. We as Americans think we have it so bad how about you go to their countries and see how hard it is to survive then maybe you will appreciate America. I promise you this 98% of Americans would never survive in underdeveloped countries whether they are across the US/Mexican border or overseas. America is supposed to be the place where dreams come true….land of the free and home of the brave! What happened????? Instead we are the land of people who only care about ourselves. America used to create hope for others now look at us we are so far from our roots…will America ever be again what it used to be….probally not. Its up to us to fix our country.
