LINCOLN, Nebraska: State Senator Paul Schumacher introduced a bill that would allow proponents of an initiative or a recall to collect signatures electronically. [1]

Legislative Bill 566 would allow proponents to collect signatures electronically as long they pay a fee to the authorities for the operating costs. [1] According to the bill, the basic fee for proponents to collect signatures electronically is $5,000. [1] The cost doubles to $10,000 for campaigns intending to amend the Nebraska Constitution[1]

On January 21, 2011, the bill was referred to the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee[2]
