SPRINGFIELD, Illinois: A local resident in Pike County is petitioning to allow for residents to carry concealed weapons. Illinois is the only state, after Wisconsin’s carry law takes effect this fall, that does not have State level legislation which address concealed weapons and permits needed to carry. The man behind the petition, Dan Mefford, noted that he was taking the issue into local hands as it seemed the State government would not get around to passing any sort of legislation. A law had been proposed in the Illinois house, but failed to get the super majority needed to pass.[1] The petitioners are aiming for the March 2012 ballot, they need to collect 528 valid signatures for the petition to be approved. By August 28, petitioners noted that they were halfway to their goal of 1,000 signatures, taking in to account a margin of invalid signatures. While Mefford notes that his petition seeks to have no rules for gun carry, just what is laid out in the constitution, that does not mean guns can still be regulated within the county.[2] If this measure is successful, it would take the issue out of the hands of Chicago politicians who mostly have been opposed to the idea.[3]

i would gladly sign any petition to allow good law abiding illinois residence to carry conceal i already have a CCW its a florida permit taken here in illinois the state is complaing that its broke but wont allow illinois residence to get a carry permit i guess they like loseing revenue to other states from their own residence waY to go illinois govt. you are misssing out on revenue from your own residence makes alot of sense doesnt it the ccw would not only generate revenue for the state from il residence it would also generate out of state revenue from other states that honors each others permits people would from other states would be glad to carry here and if they are allowed to they stay here and spend money there for that generates revenue its not rocket science

I will gladly sign Illinois gun laws are dumb. Their biggest argument is violence. Is it me or are people carrying illegally anyway.
Illinois is the only state that does not have a a conceal carry law on the books.It has been proven and shown that by having responsible law abiding citzens carrying conealed weapons that the crime rate has dropped.I would sign this petition any time

i think that if we had concealed carry there would less problems around here because they would think twice about pulling a gun on some one else you can bet your life i will sign any petition thanks for having this little poll
