LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas: On Tuesday, voters in Arkansas went to the polls to decide on several runoff races. The initial primary had been held on May 22, 2012, but seven races required a runoff because no winner received the required number of votes. All seven runoffs were between Democratic candidates.

In three of the races, the winner will not face any major party opposition in November, virtually guaranteeing them election to public office. Here are the results of the runoffs.^[1]

Congress

•  Scott Ellington defeated Clark Hall for the nomination in the 1st Congressional District election. The runoff was separated by less than 300 votes out of just under 20,000 total votes cast. Ellington will face incumbent Rick Crawford (R) in the general election.
•  Gene Jeffress defeated Byrum Hurst for the nomination in the 4th Congressional district election. Jeffress will face Tom Cotton (R) in the general election.

State Senate

•  Current State Representative Eddie Cheatham defeated Gregg Reep for the nomination in the 26th Senate District. Cheatham will face Mike Akin (R) in the general election.

State House

•  John Baine defeated Albert Glover for the nomination in the 7th House District. No Republican candidates have filed to run in the general election.
•  Mike Holcomb defeated Dorothy Hall for the nomination in the 10th House District. Holcomb will face Charles Roberts in the general election.
•  Charles Armstrong defeated Tommy Branch Jr. for the nomination in the 30th House District. No Republican candidates have filed to run in the general election.
•  Monte Hodges defeated Mary Gay Shipley for the nomination in the 55th House District. No Republican candidates have filed to run in the general election.
